Making Madison more affordable for businesses and residents is going to be a challenge. A way to address this would be to get a full understanding of the town’s finances by reviewing the town’s income and expenditures.
I spent my career as an IRS Revenue Agent who specialized as a Computer Audit Specialist for large corporate audits. Retired after 33 ½ years and have done a lot of audits as a team member, good with numbers and works well with others.
I grew up on Long Island in the NYC borough of Queens and graduated from Hunter College CUNY with a BS degree in Accounting. Madison has been my home for 34 years along with my husband Bruce. We purchased our first home here in town where we raised our 4 daughters.
I have volunteered for many years at schools, church, and various community organizations and events. A lot of my time is spent being active with special needs children and young adults. I am a former 5-year Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps member as an EMT/driver.
Madison is four square miles with a population of about sixteen thousand people. We don’t want to grow the economy beyond the ability of the community to sustain its local businesses. Listening to the opinions of the residents and business owners in the community is a good starting point.
The federal immigration policy has not affected Madison positively or negatively and does not need to be addressed by the borough council.
Relying on experts for water, land, and air quality testing and suggestions would be a key consideration for me because I do not have experience in this area. My family recycles and composts regularly, so we try to do our part, and I encourage others to do so also.
Madison does have main highways nearby and a train station in town where the NJ transit trains stop at coming from Dover/Mount Olive/Hackettstown and go east to Hoboken and NYC. I don’t for see any major transportation needs at this time. Additional parking around the center of town is a growing concern that needs to be evaluated.
