As I did when I was a member of the Planning Board, I will continue to fight unreasonable affordable housing expectations that are mandated by the State. Denville was the second town to join the lawsuit initiated by Montvale. A lawsuit that now includes over 30 towns. I will continue to support the Administration’s actions relating to the ongoing litigation against the state. Open Space has become that much more important to our Community. That is just one of many reasons I wholeheartedly support the Town, and will do whatever I can, to help purchase, protect and preserve the St. Francis and Pocono Road properties.
I am fortunate enough to come from a large family of volunteers, first responders and military. My Father was a volunteer fire fighter and my Mother is a Registered Nurse Certified in Psychiatry who continues to Council and Support those in need. It is from their example that helping others became natural to me. I have spent the last decade volunteering and serving on many different committees and boards in Denville and Morris County. I served 8 years on the Planning Board and 18 years on the Recreation Committee, where I learned how the Township operated. The more I gave the more I wanted to be involved. As an International Sales Manager I learned to listen and work with people. Life has taught me to collect the information first and then make the best possible decision. My experience and upbringing taught me to be the voice and to be the strength for those who need it.
We are very fortunate to live in a community with a wonderful downtown. Even after hurricane Irene brought 4 feet of water to our downtown we recovered, rebuilt, and today our Downtown continues to thrive. That is why it is even more meaningful that our Downtown is consistently ranked as Morris County’s favorite shopping destination. Our Beautification Committee does an outstanding job planting the many gardens in and around town, as well as seasonally decorating the business district. The creation of the Business Improvement District, called Downtown Denville, has taken our downtown businesses and turned them into an organization who has brought a purpose and enhanced their annual events. Finally, the Township has made a successful financial commitment to improving and maintaining our downtown. I am particularly pleased to be part of the $500,000 grant we received for the upcoming Bloomfield Ave. and Center St. Streetscape Project. A project that will bring period lighting, a brick utility corridor, music, flags, banners, and flowers. This project should begin by the end of the year. I will continue to support these initiatives as they have been very successful.
Denville is a family-oriented town where everyone is welcome, and our residents are a priority. When I was sworn into office, I took an oath to support Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New Jersey, I will support and abide by any Federal regulations to ensure the safety of our residents and guests within our community. I also fully support the Denville Police Department and all First Responders with everything they do to protect our community and keep us safe.
It is a 2-prong approach to protect/improve our town's environment. Preserve the right open space and prevent high density housing developments. Again, I am very excited to strongly support the Administration’s attempt to acquire the St Francis properties on Diamond Spring Road and Pocono Road. As a member of the Council, I will continue to fight against outrageous “State Mandated” Affordable Housing numbers and over the development they bring. I will continue to support improvements and maintenance to our roadways along with supporting all grant applications that would help cover the cost of those improvements. I will continue to support ordinances that protect our trees and waterways, work with the Environmental Commission, Green Team, and Beautification Committee as they provide an invaluable service to our community with their dedication to planting new trees, flowers and plants.
