Sam's top priority as Mayor of Carnegie will be supporting the businesses. The progress made since 2004 flood is now threatened by the same challenges facing small businesses on Main Streets throughout the country: inflation, tariffs, and uncertainty. Sam will work collaboratively with business owners to ensure they receive funding available through state grants.
Sam will also focus on marketing Carnegie's unique location and amenities to bring visitors and new residents. Carnegie has much of what young families want in their community: easy access to downtown Pittsburgh, a Main Street with specialty stores, and plenty of events.
Sam will also commit to transparency and keeping the community informed about decisions made by the Borough.
The most successful way to build a consensus is to listen and encourage collaboration. Folks in government sometimes think that because no one shows up to meetings that people do not want to be involved locally. People do want to be involved and engaged, but elected officials must reach out to them. I will commit to holding regular meetings and mixers with business owners, engaging with residents on social media, and being visible in town by attending as many community events as possible.
