The key to running a polling place in an efficient and fair manner is discipline, organization, preparation and review. A Judge of Election needs to take the training offered by the county and take the training every year. The Judge needs to get their precinct election board in order and have a backup plan in case something goes wrong. The precinct board needs to work as a team and the Judge must stress the importance of working as a team. The Judge needs to stress the importance of their team taking the training as well. And finally, the most important factors on Election Day are these: when in doubt, take your time to get it right: and if you need to, call the Monroe County Voter Registration team for guidance or assistance. They’re the experts, they are there to help you to do things in the right and fair way for all voters regardless of their affiliation.
