There are 3 supervisors for each of our local townships, one being elected every 2 years. The Board of Supervisors is the legislative body of the township in setting policy, enacting and enforcing ordinances and resolutions, adopting budgets, and levying taxes. The Supervisors are responsible for planning and zoning, road maintenance, providing for fire and police protection, hiring employees, and the administration of financial affairs. Appointed in 2023 to fill a vacancy on the board of supervisors, I must run in the first municipal election following my appointment, which takes place this year.
My background in local government spans over 25 years of overseeing multi-million-dollar operating budgets, which include various aspects such as liquid fuels, building maintenance, parks and recreation, and construction projects.
My 40 years of experience in emergency services have provided me with a unique understanding of handling complex, dynamic challenges.
Considering my experiences, background, and training, I believe I am an ideal candidate to represent Paradise Township. Therefore, I am seeking election to complete the term and continue serving you as a supervisor.
I believe that the biggest challenge we need to address is securing a sustainable water supply solution for our neighbors who struggle to maintain an adequate water supply. Many residents near and along the Route 30 corridor face significant challenges related to well capacity. I think it's critical to continue to work to find a reliable water supply solution that will alleviate these concerns.
We must continue to work towards developing a more regional approach to municipal services through collaboration with our neighboring Pequea Valley communities. By adopting a uniform, standardized, and shared zoning strategy, we can effectively plan our future in Paradise while ensuring compatibility with surrounding communities.
As a Township Supervisor, I believe that local government is the catalyst for meaningful change, where every voice is heard and valued.
When our neighbors take the time to attend township meetings and share their perspectives, I am committed to not just listening but actively engaging with their concerns to drive positive impact in our community.
