The Board of Commissioners is the elected governing body of Manheim Township and is comprised of five (5) members elected at-large by the Township voters.The Board of Commissioners authority is enabled by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania under the PA First Class Township Code and other local government laws and statutes. In Pennsylvania, all Townships of the First Class are governed and supervised by an elected Board of Township Commissioners.In accordance with the PA First Class Township Code, the Manheim Township Board of Commissioners is charged with the general governance of the Township, the execution of legislative, executive and administrative powers in order to ensure the sound fiscal management of the Township and securing the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the community.The Board of Commissioners accomplishes its charge by:Adopting resolutions and ordinances (laws);Hiring staff to provide services and establishing fees and charges for services;Adopting a budget and establishing tax rates;Appointing advisory and special purpose boards and commissions to help oversee legislative activities and certain operational functions and services to the community;Performing duties and exercising powers as may be imposed or conferred by law or the rules and regulations of the Commonwealth of PA.The Manheim Township Board of Commissioners are elected for terms of four (4) years.

I’m running for Township Commissioner because I want to ensure every family has access to an affordable, safe community. It is essential that we preserve our farmland resources while revitalizing our neglected commercial areas to create neighborhoods for aspiring young families and small businesses.
The most pressing issues facing the Township are greenspace preservation, gridlocked traffic, and a lack of fiscal responsibility and transparency. We must preserve our existing farmland and greenspaces while promoting smart growth in underutilized commercial spaces. In addition, we must drive community safety by addressing the traffic issues in the Township. This can be done by listening to our community and creating better designs to allow for easier traffic flow and better connectivity. Finally, it is critical that we embrace fiscal sustainability as a Township. As Commissioner I promise to pass a balanced budget for Manheim Township by reining in wasteful spending and by utilizing grant funding more efficiently.
Civic engagement is at the core of municipal government. As someone who currently serves as the chair of a community-driven advisory committee I know how to reach out to staff members to make sure that resident concerns are heard and addressed. I believe that public comment and participation in the various committees should be the steering force in Township policy. We are elected to serve the community, and so their voices come first.

I am running for Manheim Township Commissioner to protect and serve my community. I am extremely passionate about agriculture. I grew up on a small farm in eastern Lancaster County, I went to school studying agribusiness, and I have worked in agriculture my entire career. I want to be able to serve in a position where I can help to preserve our existing ag and rural roots. Second, I want to be able to serve my local community. I have worked with townships and boroughs across the state, and I know the difference between a bad township borough and a great one. I want to make sure Manheim Township continues to be the best in Lancaster County and make life easier for our residents.
There are three major issues facing MTWP that I can influence. First, I want to preserve the farmland in MTWP, protect our rural roots, and save our open spaces. Next, MTWP will continue to grow and thrive. We need to help facilitate growth that keeps our community safe. Safety comes in many facets. I want to alleviate existing traffic issues. There are accidents and near misses that occur daily in MTWP. I will work with our staff, builders, and neighbors to create solutions to ease our traffic congestion and traffic patterns. Finally, I will create a better budget for MTWP. There is a lot of wasteful spending we can solve to create a budget surplus. This will require careful examination of our spending and reinvestment into MTWP.
Civic engagement and participation is the single most important thing that can happen for Manheim Township. As a commissioner, I serve our community and our citizens and their input needs to be taken into consideration when discussing and voting on matters that affect the township. Hearing from the community will influence my decision because, again, I serve at the pleasure of our community. As long as laws are not being broken, we represent the community, and our votes and decisions need to reflect that representation.
