My family has lived in this community since 2008, and most neighbors only know enough about each other to wave hello. It is pleasant, but maybe it could be more? With an aging population, I get concerned that we miss out on an opportunity to be stronger, more neighborly, and to build trust in community. Maybe we can show a bit more care and concern and build connections. Celebrate those in our community with good stories to share, 90 year old birthdays and youth graduations. What about the new babies or the new neighbors? Wouldn't it be nice to find ways to be neighbors, mind you not nosey ones, but ones that will think of you when times are good and times are tough. We are neighbors here, locally and I thin I can help.
I am not complaining at all about current leadership, but I do see an opportunity to foster stronger local community. Most residents aren't aware of what the township actually does for them, their rights, the resources available, or even know who their township staff is and what they do to support the community. I think of the township as a core connector to all families and businesses within the community. Finding ways for township leaders to be visible and helpful beyond just zoning and storm water might help build stronger neighborhood ties. Taking a passive or reactive stance to community leadership weakens neighborhoods. We have a beautiful community why not find ways to encourage stronger neighborly ties?
Civic engagement is the backbone of a thriving township. As a township supervisor, I would ensure residents feel comfortable to participate in meetings, voice concerns, and contribute ideas. Attending these meetings allows me to stay informed about community needs, hear different perspectives, and craft policies that reflect the values of our township. In my experience in the past in the Navy and daily as a technician, I’ve seen firsthand how collaboration leads to meaningful improvements. If given the opportunity to serve, I would prioritize transparency, accessibility, and community involvement, ensuring residents have a say in the future of our township.
