Traffic issues: I will collaborate with the police department, PennDOT, and Lancaster County to develop an effective plan for the Borough to reduce vehicle speeds, prevent vehicles from running red lights, and encourage tractor-trailer drivers to use designated PennDOT truck routes.
Blind intersections: Will coordinate with the police and East Petersburg Borough to remove trees, shrubbery, and other obstructions that block clear sight triangles and sightlines at all effected intersections.
Feral cats: Recognizing that feral cats typically lack an apparent owner, I will partner with the police and the borough to establish a volunteer-based program aimed at reducing the feral cat population.
I will collaborate with the borough police department and the East Petersburg Borough to identify ways to enhance police patrols both day and night, ensuring police visibility for our residents and fostering positive interactions through friendly conversations. I will hold monthly meetings with the police chief to evaluate the state of the borough, address resident complaints, and develop plans and policies, if needed, to promote the, safety, and welfare of the borough its residents. I will maintain open communication with borough residents to any concerns related to the police department and public safety. As a resident, I regularly attend borough events engage with residents and local businesses during my walks around town.
The Greystone Road intersection presents significant safety concerns. I propose collaborating with the East Petersburg Borough Council, affected municipality, and PennDOT to install a display on Route 72 South to alert vehicles when the Greystone Road traffic light is red. A portion of the funding could potentially be secured through grants. During summer, grass and weeds grow along the roadway and curb. The borough should address this issue by removing the weeds and sealing the voids, with funding possibly sourced from grants or fuel taxes.
Well-maintained sidewalks are essential for the safety of borough pedestrians. Borough property owners and Borough should share the financial burden of curb and sidewalk repair and installation.
As Mayor, I will attend Borough Council meetings and Borough Council committee meetings. If concerns addressed to me are not adequately resolved during these meetings, I will, if necessary, arrange an additional meeting to discuss safety-related issues. Committees may be established to address and resolve the raised concerns. If needed educational forums would be organized conducted by the police, fire department, and emergency management coordinator to inform the public about safety and emergency procedures.
