I will foster an environment of cooperation and empathy by listening to all individuals experiences and input. I will take into consideration their life leading up to the present and consider the impact it has had on them.
Every constituent, family & staff member in Warwick should be equal. I believe depending on the issue the primary focus group may fluctuate.
I do not think there is any topic of concern that shouldn’t be brought to the boards attention. If it is a matter of concern in the district the board should address it.
I believe Warwick is one of the most well funded districts in relation to the number of students.

I think it is extremely important to bear in mind that each member of the school board brings their own unique experiences and talents to the board. Every member should feel valued and every point of view deserves to be heard. No one member has all of the answers, but as a team the board has many years of work and life to draw from. If we tackle the challenges as a group, our chances to succeed are enhanced. A spirit of cooperation will be fostered when we all commit to listening to each other with open minds and open hearts.
To me, there is no question that the needs of the students must always be our first priority. That means all of the students, including those whose values and ideas may not sync with our personal opinions.
I think bullying is an ever-present issue that tends to be ignored until a tragic event occurs. We need to be proactive in preventing bullying, beginning in kindergarten and continuing through grade 12. That includes teaching respect for all people, including those who don't look, think, worship, or act in accordance with our own personal values.

As a seasoned communicator and listener with over 30 years of experience in public relations, marketing, and communications, I value collaboration and thoughtful problem-solving. My professional background has taught me the importance of building consensus and working through complex issues with transparency and respect. In addition, I’ve been deeply involved in the community—serving as the former chair of the YWCA of Lancaster’s Race Against Racism and a board member for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, ASSETS, and the YWCA of Lancaster. I’ve also had the privilege of mentoring young athletes as a cross country coach at Warwick, a track coach at McCaskey, and a volunteer with Girls on the Run.

Empowering Warwick
The school board is charged with making decisions about what’s best for all students. Board members serve students, parents, teachers, and residents of varying backgrounds and ideologies. As with any group, disagreements are natural, and conflict will sometimes arise. A healthy board board fosters an atmosphere of collegiality, compromise, and genuine care for all stakeholders in the district. Although we may not always agree, a diversity of opinions can lead to creative solutions and, hopefully, a better understanding of one another. Through healthy, active listening and respectful, thoughtful conversations, we can work through challenges and stay focused on our shared goal of student success.
As a candidate for school board, I see our number one priority as being our students. They are literally the very reason for its existence – to educate and prepare future generations. Taxpayers, teachers, staff, and families are also critical components of the equation, and we need to keep them top-of-mind with decision-making. However, with any decisions that reach the board level, the first question should be, “How can this help students?” If the answer is overwhelmingly positive, then we need to evaluate the impact on our other constituents to arrive at a measured and thoughtful solution. That does not mean every decision will please everyone, but all choices should always be rooted in a clear, student-centered rationale.
The biggest issue facing any school district, including Warwick, is maintaining and enhancing educational quality. Are we doing all we can to prepare our students for the next chapter in life – whether that is the next grade level, workforce, or post-secondary education? It’s a simple question, but the answer is often complex. Another substantial issue facing the school board is funding and taxation – how can we support our students, teachers, and staff without putting an undue burden on taxpayers? Those are the type of issues the board should prioritize and will always be relevant. Specific classroom policies should be the purview of the educational and teaching professionals to do what they were hired to do.
Overall, Warwick's taxes have been kept at reasonable levels for the past few years despite a slight increase this coming year. However, it will be important to know how upcoming cuts to the Department of Education's budget will impact our budget. Depending upon the answer, it might require adjustments to compensate for the budgetary shortfall without compromising quality programs and services for our students.
