Not only am I a mother of 3, I am a Parent Volunteer and part of the PTO. I show up to Board meetings and district events because of the interest I have in learning more and the desire to help in a positive way. I am involved in my community, I see and speak to a lot of parents, and school staff, and community. Most importantly, the children that do know me, respect, trust, and admire me.
I am running for School director to help bring change in a positive way. My goal is to help bridge the gap between students, parents, school staff, and our community.
The top 3 challenges I would say, first academically. Our reading and math skills need more attention. The school board should respond by, coming up with new and fresh ideas to help keep children engaged. Second, safety and well being of our children. Many of us have life happening to us and only God knows the challenges some people and children are facing. Some counseling and resources can be provided for the parents, too. Last, respect and integrity. We can lead by example.
Absolutely! The schools can better prepare students with life skills by providing these classes. Cooking, independent living, parenting, and more. Although it wasn't in Reading, I took some of these electives in High School.
Technology is great and much needed. I believe though, our first computer is our brain. I like that the schools are keeping up with the latest things, but I believe it'll be helpful if we allow our students to exercise their brain, too.
