Qualifications for Office Kim’s love for the Poconos runs deep. Kim worked as a Zoning Officer for Tunkhannock Township giving her experience in the day to day operations of a township & the inner nuances of the Pennsylvania Municipal Code. She served as the campaign coordinator for the 1st Monroe County Open Space Initiative of which many of the protected spaces of Tobyhanna Township including the Austin T. Blakeslee Natural Area, the Thomas Darling Preserve, and the Pocono Bike and Hike Trail exist as a result of that Open Space referendum. She served as a member of Tobyhanna Township Planning Commission. Currently an educator, she helps prepare future generations to be kind and responsible humans.
A Tobyhanna Township Supervisor should serve as the voice of the residents of the township and not act for their own person gain or interest, serving as a voice of calm and reason. Being transparent with the inner workings of the township including fire and police protection, short term rental enforcement, and the level of planning put forth to protect our township from warehouses and other intensive development is an absolute must. A supervisor should find ways to encourage community involvement by hosting events at our local parks, by promoting other local organization events, and to serve as champions of our youth organizations, their families, and our residents. We should find ways to assist our existing small businesses and encourage other small businesses to set up shop in the township. We need to protect our natural resources and preserve our small town character while balancing positive economic growth. Let Kim Briggs Olizarowicz will be your voice.
