Education
I graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in May of 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. My major was Secondary Education/English with minors in Professional Writing and History. I am a Bucks County native and attended Neshaminy Schools for all 12 years.
Experience
This is my 24th year in public education. I have ten years of teaching experience – working for the Central Bucks School District and the Pennsauken School District of NJ. For the past 13 years I have been working for the New Jersey Education Association where I am a union rep.
I am the most qualified candidate to keep our Pennsbury Schools strong. If elected, I plan to focus upon:
• Building a new high school. I will work to ensure smart planning and responsible spending as we navigate the challenges of building a new high school.
• Strengthening connections with teachers and staff. I will advocate for better communication, support, and innovation to keep our teachers and school staff engaged and empowered.
• Keeping our community affordable. I will fight for fiscally responsible decisions that protect taxpayers while prioritizing education.
• Providing stability for our students. Children thrive with consistency and need it to reach their full potential.
I attend and speak to School Board meetings regularly. While this is my first time seeking public office, I have always held a deep respect for those on both sides of the political aisle who serve our community. It’s easy to criticize but not easy to make decisions — especially when a decision could affect thousands. If Pennsbury voters elect me their next school board director, I will listen intently and make every effort to understand both sides of an issue.
It is for my 6-year-old son as well as all children across our school community that I decided to throw my hat in the ring. I am a former teacher and now a union rep working with 15 local unions across 14 public school districts in Burlington and Camden Counties representing approximately 2,500 union members who work a variety of jobs. It is my hope that my skills and experiences can help move our school district forward. I believe that my experiences in public education are unique and will provide me with insight into school district leadership as well as keeping our district among the best in our county and state. I’m looking forward to connecting with my neighbors on how we can keep our schools great by continually improving them.
