I have spent 25 years in the district as a volunteer. I am a past board member with experience. I held the position of treasurer of the board for two years. I was a part of the negotiation team during contract renewals. I served on the MCTI board. I always did my due diligence before voting on agenda items. I am a student and community advocate. I am a life long resident of the Stroudsburg area. ,
The mental health of our students has become a huge issue for many. Two years of remote learning due to COVID has put our students behind in multiple ways. We are faced with a decline of proficientcy in math, english and reading especially in our lower grades. The district is forced to play "catch up." Due to the closure of schools, there are students who lack the crucial social skills they need to deal with issues that may arise in social settings. This could lead to behavior issues as well. We must focus on getting our students back to the levels they should be academically and mentally. We need to offer more in support and focus on education front and foremost. The district should provide students and staff with the tools they deem necessary to boost academic growth. Our schools need to support our students mental health by creating positive environments, having open communication and providing the resources necessary. We need to promote a safe and supportive environment for all.

30+ years as a CFO, Controller and Business Leader. 2014 CFO of the Year as named by the Lehigh Valley Business Journal
Complacency. Whether it be related to board composition (same people - no changes), student achievement (proficiency scores are abysmal and no one seems to care) or return on taxpayer investment in the community (taxes continue to rise yet there is no significant return), it all points to what I call a "Morass of Mediocrity." We can do better; we must do better. Our future and the futures of the next generation demands it.
My plan to eradicate complacency focuses on the above; introduce new thinking, and qualified, vibrant individuals committed to developing consensus and fostering teamwork w/ any existing members to bring about meaningful results.
Develop a multi-year plan district wide to address the underlying issues causing low proficiency scores and develop plans to incrementally raise these scores over the next 4 years and beyond.
Introduce the concept of ROI - return on investment to the district and work to educate our students within the financial means of our community.

One of our biggest issues facing the Stroudsburg Area School District is the financial impact of charter schools. The District pays approximately eleven million dollars a year to Charter schools.
