Education BS Mathematics; MS Computer Science
Current Occupation Retired
Qualifications for Office • Served in the military for 22 years; worked in aerospace industry 20 years; developed and managed plans/ budgets in the tens of millions annually. • Was a military, aerospace and university instructor. • With a brother, owned and operated a construction company for over 30 years. • Pleasant Valley School Board member 2019 to present.
Although there has been improvement, on-going distrust continues to divert precious time and resources -- impacting our students’ education, staff performance and administration’s workload. As noted previously, rebuilding trust is a slow process. Our board and administration continue to pursue communication/ collaboration paths that are open and transparent with staff, parents and the community. Our goal is to provide prompt, clear and sound solution-based responses, when issues and/or rumors occur. At a recent board meeting, the Citizens Advisory Committee, which provides an addition pathway for the board and community to collaborate, was initiated. It will provide an additional opportunity for open discussion and recommendations on timely topics (e.g., issues, concerns and opportunities) of Pleasant Valley’s citizens. Secondarily, the district continues to work to reduce/ eliminate our student’s COVID related education deficit with our learning recovery programs.

Qualifications for Office 22+ years of experience in school business and management
At this moment in time, one of the biggest issues is the uncertainty of funding streams from the state and Federal government. Schools across PA are all faced with this same issue. To continue to provide a quality education for our students, we need to be sure of our funding streams. so not to over burden our taxpayers and deplete the fund balance. We need to provide a great work environment for all our staff as well as be competitive with our salaries and benefits to maintain our current staff and to attract new hires for our future. We also need to continue to receive all grants available to schools to help reduce the tax burden to our taxpayers. Grants are used in place of fund balance. By using grants dollars PV is able to provide new curriculum, supplies, and technology equipment. PV needs to continue to set aside dollars to complete capital improvements as set forth in the 5 year plans. Pv's finances are in better shape to date and we need to continue that moving forward!
