I have served on the City Council and Mayor for the City of Windcrest from 2007 – 2011. I understand the time and commitment needed to bring our City Staff and Council together and stay focused on the community demands. Working together as a team and respecting our staff’s functions and duties. I will be the voice of reason and utilize my 50+ years of business experience to establish an annual balanced budget. I will make time to discuss what our residents’ needs or ideas are for continual improvement to our community and staff.
We need to plan the expenses needed for our Water Department. Our Water System needs upgraded and some extensive repairs that will be costly. We will have our engineers’ study completed in the next few months, now we need to look at our options for financing such a project. I believe I can assist with some viable programs we can apply for. This will be a multiple-year project. We have talented City Staff that respect our council members, and residents we should all be held accountable to work with one another amicably.
The residents feel secure with our local police department and enjoy living in a safe community. Many residents are enjoying the new Pickle Ball Courts as well as the work our Garden Club has been doing. We will work towards continual improvements to our Parks and look at options to monetize and manage our public boat ramps. We need to attract new business to our community for convenience as well as additional income streams. I believe I can assist with these efforts once elected.
I’ve been on the city council for the last 10 years. My agenda is to keep Sunrise Beach a great place to live. I’ve worked to get the village backup generators for the water plant and am currently managing the contract to upgrade our water system. My background includes 20 years as a fighter pilot and rocket scientist in the USAF and 35 years in the Information Technology arena. I still work part-time as a database consultant.
The most pressing issues are upgrading the water department infrastructure, roads, and parks (in that order). To resolve these issues, we must find the most cost-effective means to fund them while keeping SRB an affordable and great place to live.
Everyone is concerned about our water department. With the drought, we’ve had a series of pipe failures, and I am looking for an effective means to mitigate them. The planned engineering study is a step in that direction. The roads are a second issue. We must find a funding source to repair and improve our roads. I’ve also received input on the parks, but our City Councilman Jeff Cook is making gains in their improvements.

I spent my adult career life working for the District Court serving the citizens of the community in the capacity of a Juvenile Probation Officer for right at 20 years. In this career field I exhibited my commitment to fairness, right action and prudent decision making. I exercised my ability to interface and work productively alongside key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes consistent with the mission of the Court system with safety of the community and rehabilitation of the child as a driving force.
The resolution of the water plant issues, infrastructure to continue to make Sunrise Beach a desirable location to reside, emergency agencies bring further equipped to serve the citizenry with safety as the primary concern and that when issues arise under the authority of the Council that they are addressed and resolved in a fair, legal and respectful manner.
Concern about the quality of the water system, including pressure issues, property taxes and revenue resulting in a balanced budget, deer population control and for city council leadership to conduct business in a fair and professional manner.
I feel like I am qualified because I was a Houston Police Officer for over 33 years and I have quite a bit of experience handling issues and dealing with them appropriately. I have also learned how to talk to people because it is not what you say, it is how you say it.
My wife and I have been here for two years and I have come to learn that the City supplied Water is the biggest issue. The Water issue is primary, but I also notice that we need to look at the streets and we need to begin charging boaters that use our boat launches for free.
What i have learned from other residents in Sunrise Beach were stated in my #2 response. We have got to do something about the Water issue and realize that we can no longer just put a band aid on the problem and expect that to be sufficient.
My unique background in both business and government makes me the ideal candidate to lead our city into a prosperous future. I have a proven track record of success in the business world, with years of experience in managing and growing businesses – from startups to industry giants such as Pixar/Disney, Yahoo!, Eli Lilly, and even NASA. And for more than 20 years, I was an active member of 3CMA, (City, County Communications and Marketing Association). This forum is where they discuss their challenges and successes, how to navigate a crisis and more. And the city gets a free PIO!
With rising costs every year, we must ensure that we have the financial means to provide the same level of services to our citizens, which means either raising taxes or increase our revenue streams. Raising taxes on our current residents is not a sustainable solution. Instead, we need to explore untapped revenue-generating opportunities that will allow us to expand our tax base without placing additional burdens on our citizens.
That depends on with whom you speak. For years, many have been the “city of NO,” but the cost of criticism is an alternate solution – and I’ve seen little to none. Progress is coming, you can get onboard or be left behind. I knew we had a revenue problem 17 years ago when my wife and I bought radios and a new computer for the underfunded police department. It’s time to think outside the box.
