While the township had rigorous ordinance requirements to control stormwater from new development for more than 40 years, PA regulations continue to change. Currently municipalities in the Neshaminy & Delaware Watersheds are required to reduce sediment loss to the Delaware. We are working on funding to complete a $350,000 sediment control project along Anchor Run Creek as our commitment to these requirements. New regulations are expected in 2026 to further reduce the volume of water leaving municipalities in these sheds. Many of our legacy developments built in 1950-70 were not required to address stormwater providing an opportunity to address new requirements. We continue to work with our legislators to address these unfunded mandates.
I have a responsibility to this community. We have done well in managing development and preserving open space. There are still 2 large open space projects I would like to see come to completion. We have completed a 10 year $1,000,000 down payment on road improvements. In the next 10-year horizon, I see the need to further improve all township roads and address stormwater in problem areas. We must continue to support our emergency service investment in fire and ambulance coverage. I am committed to our emergency service programs. I’m sure not everyone has agreed with every decision I have made. I hope that on balance, the voters feel that the Township has fared well under my leadership and support me in the elections to come.
40 years’ experience with Rohm & Haas/Dow Chemical with primary focus on quality management the last 15 years. As township supervisor past 35 years, successfully negotiated a 10 year $1,000,000 savings by moving police coverage from Buckingham to Newtown; additional compounded savings over the next two 10-year contracts. Involved in preserving more than 860 acres (18%) of Wrightstown through public/private partnerships; 340 acres in direct township ownership. Worked with zoning partners Newtown and Upper Makefield to manage development and to bring the National Veterans Cemetery to Washington Crossing. Successfully facilitated grants for open space, Village Library, Public Works, traffic light improvements and a new fire truck.
