Qualifications for office Swissvale Borough Counsel resident since 1995; 30 years professional experience in state government; active engagement in Borough advisory committees; member of Swissvale Economic Development Corporation.
Education B.S. and M.S., Michigan State University; J.D. Vermont Law School
1. Strengthen the Business Districts by working with existing organizations to identify resources and business development support for new and existing businesses; 2. Make it easier and safer to walk and move through Swissvale by implementing the proposed Active Transportation Plan once approved by Counsel; 3. Implement a strategy to deal with blight and improve vacant lots through consistent enforcement of building codes, and by supporting the ongoing vacant lot research project and then identifying those properties that can be returned to the tax rolls and those with the potential to be used for open space, stormwater management and other uses that benefit the public.
I did not have many opportunities to develop specific strategies to build consensus in my Professional experience but I expect I will be able to apply the practical skills and knowledge I have gained both during my work and current involvement with advisory committees in Swissvale to reach agreement and support for actions taken by Council on behalf of Swissvale residents.
