1. Public safety, making sure Oakmont is a safe place that will encourage families to move to our community and make our community their home. I want to make sure this aspect works not only for families but for all residents residing in the Borough.
2. Making sure the right decisions are made and being a good steward in respect to the community’s financial condition with a focus on the best interests of our residents.
3. And I believe at the core the mission of a council member is just to listen to the residents and to work to solve problems that arise so that we may provide reasonable solutions for all of our residents that will have a positive effect on the community as a whole.
I think the key to a successful negotiation and building consensus is to listen intently to others' opinions and/or priorities and try to understand where these opinions and/or priorities are derived from. I can then apply my knowledge of the facts and offer ideas to a situation that will help with getting to as close to a win/win situation as possible based.
I have used these strategies throughout my legal career in settling cases, negotiating contracts, and managing my office.

I am deeply concerned about many actions by the Trump Administration and so I would like to be part of whatever steps can be taken at the local level to lessen the impact on our hometown.
As a former investigative reporter and retired department head in charge of budgetary, personnel and litigation issues, I look forward to bringing strong fiscal discipline and responsible oversight of legal matters in my role as Council member.
Traffic between the Hulton Bridge and Allegheny River Boulevard during certain times of each day is extremely congested. Back-ups on Allegheny Avenue at Pennsylvania Ave and Washington Street are also a major issue. It's time to re-examine all possible solutions to traffic congestion in the Borough.
As WTAE News Director, building consensus was a substantial part of my job. I successfully negotiated collective bargaining agreements with three separate unions, while always maintaining professional and cordial relationships.
Additionally, I initiated, organized and produced multiple political debates for the offices of Pennsylvania Governor, U.S. Senate and Mayor of Pittsburgh, convincing opposing candidates to agree to debate rules and conditions.
As a member of Borough Council, I would consider holding town hall listening sessions, where residents could ask questions and get answers.
