My priorities include economic development, community engagement, and affordable utilities. My goals are to join the Public Works and Parks and Rec subcommittees and push for policies that support subsidies, energy efficiency, and rate studies/changes and efforts that support local/new businesses, community events, and council meeting attendance. Everyone has a seat at the community table and deserves to be heard, and, more than anything, I want to make sure that city government works for everyone, not just the well-connected or the loudest voices.
Leading by listening. We will never accomplish anything if we don’t listen and truly hear people. We are always more willing to get involved if we feel heard, and that includes within our own diverse communities. Different opinions and priorities bring new perspective that is often needed to understand others.
Occupation Retired
Qualifications for office Served on council for the majority of the past twelve years
Education Graduate of Grove City College
1) Maintaining stable local real estate taxes, while not cutting services. Careful fiscal management and strong leadership have resulted in no tax increases over the last twelve years. 2) Infrastructure improvements that directly effect our quality of life. We have obtained grant funding to improve our local parks and the Avalon Pool. 3) Continued support of our public safety personnel. We have increased our number of full time policemen, and our volunteer fire department has been successful in securing new recruits...no small feat!
I have learned throughout my life and in my career that by showing respect and taking time to listen to others, that I can often gain the respect of others. Our council members share their opinions in our committee meetings, and we work successfully towards consensus...."for the good of the borough".
