School Directors are elected on behalf of the community to oversee the education of students in their jurisdiction. They serve as agents of the state legislature. They are responsible for curriculum and instruction management; all finances including development of annual budgets and levying of taxes and issuance of debt obligations when necessary; personnel; legal matters; management of facilities; and transportation of students as appropriate. Schools may include pre-K and career and technical schools.

Qualifications for office I have served on the board since 2017. I have maintained the position of board president since 2019. I am also President of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. In addition to the above I am an active parent and community volunteer.

I have been involved in the schools since my children started kindergarten. When they were in elementary school I served as the PTO President. Since my time on the school board I have primarily been chair of the education committee. As president of both our school board and of PSBA I am a passionate advocate for public education.

I am a strong leader who works well with others. No school board member should be an island -- teamwork and consensus building are keys to success.

Lastly, for the success of the district, it is important to distinguish the role of the board as one of governance, not management.
As a passionate advocate for public education I would be remiss in not advocating for cyber school funding reform in Pennsylvania. Fair funding would help public schools out immensely. It is critical to advocate on both a state and federal level for fair funding.

On a local level it is important to engage and involve -- thereby inform -- the public of the budget process with transparency and clarity.

Growing community partnerships and seeking grants is another opportunity to offset budgetary challenges.
I will NEVER support any sort of a book ban on any level. Period.
