With a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction and ten years teaching in Arizona, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and New York City, I bring many unique and international life experiences as a school board member. I saw the results of various educational reform efforts and brought those experiences with me to develop pragmatic, workable policies for Upper Darby's diverse and international school body. As a current intelligence analyst, I have a deep background researching social, fiscal, and political trends to identify risks and opportunities, skill I hope to utilize in formulating policy for UPDS. Additionally, with years of experience in media, I am well-versed in public and media interactions to best represent the district.
Public communication is key. That can come through informal media, like social media (though there are downsides to that), and formal media, like traditional print and television. I will be engaged with media as part of a coordinated effort with the board to best represent what's at stake and what are the reasonable trade offs as we develop budgets and carry out long-term plans. Additionally, being open to and speaking directly with residents through venues like PTAs and community events is also important to further develop such connections.
1) Stave off catastrophic impacts to our student body from potential Federal cuts 2) Improve equitable distribution of resources for school improvements 3) Attract and retain world-class administrators and teachers for long-term careers with the district

I am a Class of 2016 UDHS graduate. I have advocated for students' education since my senior year. Currently, I am a Juvenile Justice Specialist who prioritizes school climate and safety, quality education, and serving students/families in need. I have experience in case management, social work, and advocacy in reference to education and attendance. As for community engagement, I have always been committed to building relationships and providing essential resources to communities throughout Delco. I am the Founder of The Only Pipeline, which is a youth empowerment initiative that provides recreational, diversionary, and educational programming to reduce the number of young people who are or could be impacted by the carceral system.
To effectively serve and represent residents, I will prioritize relationship building with residents, students, administration, and staff. I believe that collectively restructuring and revamping Upper Darby Rising to create meaningful community engagement channels and address participatory decision-making tools is an essential step that will strengthen public trust. Also, building and maintaining effective accountability structures, such as publicly tracking or reporting progress on key metrics, discipline disparities, and academic outcomes will keep residents informed and engaged.
School safety, resource accessibility/community partnerships, and DEI prioritization are important to me. School safety is a top priority, ranging from violence in, on, and near school grounds and effective safety measures. Attendance and well-being of students, staff, and families can and will greatly be impacted concerning school safety. Accessibility to essential resources (special needs, mental health, mentorship, programming, etc.) is dire for those who experience language barriers and communication issues, especially special needs students. Sometimes students will not be able to perfectly express what they need; resources should still be available for families to obtain. This also goes hand-in-hand with DEI initiatives.
