My experience as both an educator (adjunct instructor) as well as a previously an administrator of the 11th largest community college in the US (Tidewater Community College) along with being the founder and serving on the boards of numerous nonprofit organization provides me with the unique perspective needed to help shape policy for our district. As an accountant and financial advisor, my years of work on budgets and finances will help make sure there is a level of fiscal responsibility needed on the board.
The most important thing that I will bring and advocate for on the board is transparency and collaboration. As a elected officials for the district, we are elected to SERVE the residents with their best interests not ours in mind. This requires being transparent with our decision making and engaging in a collaborative nature with the community.
1. Ensuring that there is a responsible, equitable, SUSTAINABLE budget to allow the district to operate, EFFECTIVELY, and EFFICIENTLY.
2. Ensuring that our students are prepared for a 21st century economy, making sure they are able to compete not only locally but globally.
3. Advocating and ensuring that our teachers and support staff are properly compensated to reflect not only the work they do but to reward excellence.
