occupation Attorney
I have been working as a trial attorney for a decade, most recently for a nonprofit, representing victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other serious crimes. I have extensive courtroom experience, a trauma-informed approach, and a deep commitment to justice. I work closely with clients from diverse backgrounds to ensure they are empowered through the legal system. I regularly prepare for trial and negotiate effectively. I have built strong relationships with fellow attorneys and have earned a reputation for integrity and professionalism with Judges and court staff. I am running for Magisterial District Judge to ensure everyone in my community has access to the court system and is treated with dignity and respect.
Working in family law has prepared me to serve as MDJ because it requires a unique combination of patience and empathy on one hand, and legal strategy and acumen on the other. I often say, "I meet the very best people at their worst." No one wants to be in court fighting for a protection order or custody of their child, but I meet my clients where they are, listen to them carefully, and offer them compassion and clarity. As MDJ, I will continue to help people navigate some of the hardest moments in their lives with dignity, fairness, and respect.
If elected MDJ, my court will be a place of accountability, support, and cultural competence. I can help address the challenge of access to the legal system by ensuring that every person who enters my courtroom is heard, respected, and given a clear understanding of the legal process and their rights. I will connect people with legal aid resources when appropriate. I also recognize that many individuals involved in the legal system are struggling with behavioral health and substance abuse issues. I will ensure that those folks are treated with compassion and connect them with community resources when possible.
