I believe affordability is the most pressing challenge in New Jersey in 2025. New Jersey families are already dealing with some of the highest taxes in the nation and we are now being challenged with unaffordable energy costs. Electric rates were raised 17 to 20% and gas increased 16% The increasing cost of electricity, the tremendous cost of property taxes, and the high cost of living is making life in New Jersey very difficult. First, we need to scale back the state budget. The FY’ 26 budget was $58.8 billion including $846 million in pork projects. In addition, state spending has increased by 70% since 2018. This level of spending is not sustainable. Governor Murphy’s Energy Master Plan should be sidelined. He has prioritized expensive renewable energy to the detriment of ratepayers. In 2018, Governor Murphy signed legislation to reach 35% renewable energy by 2025 and 50% by 2030.
I believe New Jersey does a good job providing access to voting. I feel that we could do a better job with election integrity and accountability by more efficiently removing names from the voters rolls and making sure voter rolls are accurate. Further, I do not agree that if a person requests to vote by mail one time that they should automatically receive a ballot in the following years. We should also require identification to be shown in order to vote. Every other government interaction requires showing ID.
We need to stop the overspending and offer responsible, fiscal policies that will benefit New Jersey’s economy. In addition, we should be trying to attract businesses to New Jersey and make the state more competitive. We should lower our corporate business tax rate which is the highest in the U.S. at 11.5%. Our tax policies are driving wealthy people out of New Jersey and we then we also lose the money they would have spent on goods and services in state.

I will certainly investigate any legislation to support equitable funding for public education. Throughout the years I have worked with school districts to craft legislation to help them deal with the difficulties of providing an excellent education with limited resources. For example, A3798 eliminates the use of census-based funding of special education aid in school funding law. The bill requires the state to use the actual number of special education students to determine school aid.
I support immigration policies that will deport people who entered the country illegally. Further, if a person who entered country illegally is found guilty of a crime, they must be deported right away. I would review policies that take into consideration if a person has a family in the United States, is willing to pay taxes, and go through the process to become a legal resident.
