I believe affordability is the most pressing challenge in New Jersey in 2025. New Jersey families are already dealing with some of the highest taxes in the nation and we are now being challenged with unaffordable energy costs. Electric rates are going to be raised 17 to 20% and gas has increased 16%.
I will attempt to address these issues by urging the Administration to come up with a plan to support residents who are struggling with rising energy bills. In addition, the Administration should revamp the Energy Master Plan given the current economic situation.
Further, I will not support the imposition of any additional taxes. The state budget must be reduced through spending cuts.
I support requiring identification to be shown when voting.
I believe we can support and strengthen the economy by not imposing new taxes that Governor Murphy has proposed in the FY26 budget. Also, we need to stop increasing spending in the state budget. Governor Christie’s last budget was $35.5 billion and Murphy’s proposed FY-26 budget is $58.1 billion. There is no reason for the state budget to increase more than $22 billion in eight years.
We need to stop the overspending and offer responsible, fiscal policies that will benefit New Jersey’s economy.
I will certainly investigate any legislation to support equitable funding for public education. Throughout the years I have worked with school districts to craft legislation to help them deal with the difficulties of providing an excellent education with limited resources. For example, A3798 eliminates the use of census-based funding of special education aid in school funding law. The bill requires the state to use the actual number of special education students to determine school aid.
I support the enforcement of existing laws which were ignored by the Biden Administration.
