MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT JUDGE 10-1-03

A magisterial district judge presides over the magisterial district court. The Magisterial District Court is the first level of judicial authority in Pennsylvania. Magisterial district courts handle preliminary arraignments and hearings, set bail, issue arrest and search warrants, and issue emergency protection from abuse orders. The magisterial district courts handle all traffic cases, minor criminal cases, and some civil cases.
