The most pressing challenge that I hear from residents across the state is being able to sustain a household with all the taxes, utilities, and rising prices of everything they purchase. For the last 8 years, NJ has been stuck under a one-party rule. Many policies and ordinances were done behind closed doors, and as residents, we were expected to just "accept" these utility rate hikes, accept our hard-earned tax dollars going to illegal immigrants, accept the fact that we are forced to overpopulate our small towns with low-income housing, and accept the fact that, pretty soon, we will not be able to live here anymore. We need people who are going to go to Trenton and fight for us, the everyday, common, hard-working individuals who just want to raise their families here and be able to afford everyday things. I promise I will do that for you!
Some reforms that I would fight to end, and best suit the residents of NJ, would be to end bail reform. Too many times, we hear of criminals getting arrested, getting processed, and being back out on the street within an hour or so. This needs to stop. If someone commits a crime, they need to be held and incarcerated. Right now, our process is an absolute joke to the criminals. Being arrested and released in an hour does not deter anyone from becoming a repeat offender. Another issue we need to reform is the Mt. Laurel Doctrine on Affordable Housing in NJ. This was put into place in 1975, and the methods used to decide what towns need more housing need to be revamped. Small towns are being given these outrageous numbers of units they need to build, and it just isn't feasible. These towns don't have the sewerage, the infrastructure, or the money to provide resources for all these new units. And unfortuntely, it isn't just small towns that are feeling this pressure.
A recent poll was done, and New Jersey was ranked the worst state in America to start and run a business. We can only thank our last administration for that. We are taxing businesses right out of NJ at an alarming rate. This is for small businesses and large ones too. We need to offer tax incentives for businesses to open and thrive here. One thing that is a common program to expand our business growth is reducing the state's business tax by half over the next five years. This will give business owners a reason to move their offices, stores, and factories here. Small things like this equals a huge return for NJ as a whole.
The way that New Jersey can get equitable funding and support for public education is by creating a new school funding formula. The way that it is done now benefits the urban areas and significantly puts the rural and suburban areas at a disadvantage. There should be a formula that is used, which allows all the students in the state to get the same kind of education and access to the same amount of funding. I will make sure that students across the state have the same amount of funding and aren't shortchanged just because of the area they are living in.
I am against the approximately 7.3 billion dollars per year that NJ spends on undocumented immigrants. This is money that our taxpayers worked hard for. It should go towards programs, schools, and roads...etc. I fully support the police and ICE, who are trying to do their job and have these illegal immigrants detained and deported. The illegal immigrants who commit crimes should be deported back to their countries of origin immediately. If you are here in NJ illegally, then you need to go through the process to get citizenship. We have secured our borders; however, so many people have come over and are now here illegally. I do not think that the taxpayers of NJ need to pay for the mistakes that the past federal administration has used.

One word that encapsulates New Jersey's challenges, is Affordability. New Jersey is facing a "perfect storm" of challenges that have made our State a difficult place to live, raise a family or grow a business. Skyrocketing utility bills, the oppressive tax structure, bloated State budget, our failing NJ Transit system and Sanctuary status that is costing our taxpayers millions. Once elected, I would craft legislation to encourage new energy production facilities, with an all of the above approach. Nuclear, Natural Gas, Clean Coal and other technology yet to be discovered. I will look to establish a program to identify waste and cut it. I will encourage the creation of new business and provide a friendly regulatory structure to keep and expand our existing businesses and families in New Jersey. Public transportation is important to many and we need to make sure it runs safely and efficiently. Lastly, we end sanctuary status and redirect $100M+ being used for the undocumented in NJ.
We recently observed a primary election that a significantly higher turnout in our district and across the State. I believe there were many factors that contributed to this, but the amount of options played a large role. Options are a positive thing, but we need to ensure that we also secure our election process. We need to regularly purge voting rolls of individuals who are deceased, have moved or haven't voted in 3 election cycles. We need to make certain that the individual casting a vote is the same as the person registered to vote, this could be done by showing a license or other ID. Early voting, Mail-in voting and Election day voting provide great options for working people or parents jockeying kids from school and sports. We need to secure our voting options.
As I've mentioned previously, we need to make NJ more affordable for families and business. We'll need to immediately end the green mandates and redirect that funding to building energy capacity. Property tax reform, cut and potentially merge income tax brackets, start to reduce corporate tax rates, simplify the regulatory process and remove obstacles, provide targeted tax relief to businesses to encourage creation and innovation. We have to invest in our infrastructure throughout the State and improve NJ Transit so it runs more efficiently. Help towns redevelop downtowns and main streets to support small business. Incentivize high schools to establish new trades and STEM programs, career and technical training and apprenticeships. This will allow those not interested in college to immediately enter the workforce with a skill that will be necessary to build our new AI facilities and improve our State infrastructure.
The current school funding formula is flawed and needs to be fixed. 18 districts receive 50% of the State's funding. In many municipalities, the school budget makes up over 50% of the total property tax bill, which contributes to affordability issues. I will look to cut property tax dependence. I will support teachers, provide students and teachers with necessary resources to be successful. Incentivize the sharing of certain services and possibly leadership across similar neighboring districts. Seek new partners for training facilities, instruction and career readiness, such as trade unions. I will look to partner with trade unions to provide skills training for High School Juniors and Seniors and seek to incentivize the creation of regional training facilities for various skills, trades and other STEM careers. New Jersey can ensure equity in education by aligning resources with student needs, reducing the property tax imbalance, investing in teachers, and new career pathways.
I retired in June 2024 from the US Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations. I dedicated much of my career to investigating violent crime, transnational gangs, money laundering and narcotics trafficking. I have actually enforced Immigration law, in New Jersey and across the United States. I do not support providing taxpayer funds to those in our State unlawfully or the current Sanctuary status. I believe in secure borders using barriers, technology, intelligence and strategically located personnel. I also support a robust interior enforcement operation, but in a targeted way where ICE and HSI personnel work collaboratively with local, County, and State law enforcement personnel. Information and Intelligence should flow seamlessly between these entities and most effective ways to identify potential criminal aliens is at the intake of county jails. This is a safe process for the alien and the officer and avoids ICE approaching houses or businesses.
