Why are you seeking this office?
What are the most important services that your borough/township provides, and what should be improved?
Education
Belmont University
Occupation
Grants officer for a charitable foundation
Qualifications
I have experience in social services through my full-time work and I served on a bike and pedestrian safety advisory committee in the Nashville area
My goal in to improve public safety, particularly traffic safety. I have seen many areas with poorly marked intersections or areas with low visibility that would benefit from better illumination, reduced speed limits, or other forms of improved safety. This is particularly true on residential streets with high speed limits where there are large numbers of low speed vehicles such as bikes or buggies
Maintenance of transportation infrastructure is critical and there ways the built environment should be improved for safety, such as wider shoulders
Education
Mifflinburg High School / Penn State University
Occupation
Retired / Previously self-employed dairy farmer and dairy equipment sales and service business owner for 22 years. Then employed by the Paul Mueller Company as a regional sales manager for 21 years.
Qualifications
Extensive contact and working relationships with people as customers, employees and co-workers. Currently serving on the Buffalo Township Planning Board and the Union County Planning Commission.
My goal is to separate township administration from township employment. I believe there is potential for conflicts of interest to arise when a township supervisor is an employee of the township. There isn't a framework of accountability with the current system of operation. Buffalo Township needs checks and balances to operate efficiently. Township operating capital has decreased and the residents of the township have just incurred a 42% tax increase.
Road maintenance is the primary concern of most residents. However, road maintenance must be accomplished with the best use of residents' tax dollars. Township spending must be brought under control or more tax increases are inevitable.
