I have a background in substance abuse counseling for the department of Corrections. I also worked at Sussex Tech High School in the Assessment Dept. I am also the senior pastor of the Life Center in Bridgeville. In all cases, I've had the privilege of working with parents and students in the school district. I also worked with educators to assess students natural skills for proper placement in technical classes.
It is my understanding that a 3rd of our students at the secondary level are chronically absent post Covid. In my opinion it would be helpful to team up with teachers, parents, students and resource officers to address absenteeism.
All complaints surrounding removal of books or programs should be handled with sensitivity and care. After receiving a written complaint concerning questionable material it should be compared to district policies for controversial matters. To help avoid censorship or controversy, all material or services should be chosen with the intent to meet the needs of various groups in the community. Not just one group or political party!
Help staff address, through various trainings the awareness of implicit and explicit biases.

I believe we should seek various civic organization, grants and fundraisers to help bridge the gap between traditional school funding and what we receive from our ever changing tax base.
Seek addition funding so Woodbridge can financially compete with teachers who are inspired to teach. Not just make a living.
