I have served on the KASD school board for 20 years. I am passionate about education and believe that all students need to feel safe, valued, respected and challenged in order to learn and grow.
We need to continue to have competitive salaries and benefits, a positive workplace environment and strong district leadership. Teachers need to be supported, recognized and have opportunity for professional growth.
I support our current district leadership and believe that we are working to ensure that all students can learn and grow in a safe space.
KASD has strong leadership and dedicated staff. We are committed to a continuous improvement plan, developed with input from all of our stakeholders. The plan addresses academics, finance, safe schools and engagement. This will help improve our state report cards and keep us fiscally responsible, while maintaining safe, healthy schools.
School boards are responsible for hiring the district leader, setting policy and approving school budget. My role is to ensure that all students, staff and families are supported while remaining fiscally accountable to our community.

I bring a unique perspective to the school board as a mom of 3 young children, a former KASD educator, a single-income family, and someone with retired parents on a fixed income. I want to ensure that all voices are represented. I’m focused on the present and future, as my kids grow up in the Kaukauna district over the next 18 years. Education is my passion, and now that I’m staying home with my kids, this is a great opportunity to give back and help our district meet the needs of all students.
Our teachers are professionals, and we must offer competitive pay, benefits, flexibility, and value their time through our policies and practices. Teachers are attracted to districts with strong compensation and a positive climate and culture. I also advocate for internships—interviewing and offering a small wage to motivated, high-quality student teachers. This fiscally responsible approach meets students’ needs, supports the mentor teacher, and encourages them to start and stay with KASD.
Curriculum development is crucial to ensure it meets the needs of all students. Teachers and administrators must regularly evaluate the curriculum to ensure it aligns with how students learn today, including hands-on experiences, real-world application, and its ability to be differentiated for students above or below grade level. It’s also essential that it encourages students to explore different perspectives, consider all sides of a topic, and use critical thinking to form their own opinions.
Some strengths are K-8 reading & math growth and listening to the community. Key issues are early literacy, open enrollment, student behavior, and student/staff well-being. While fiscally responsible, I’d begin to address these with a birth-to-4 outreach program, a talented & gifted program starting in elementary, and evaluating current practices like class sizes, developmentally appropriate schedules, and behavior systems. We need to ensure all students and teachers are supported for success.
I will be the voice for all stakeholders and ensure students are at the heart of every decision. I’m committed to verifying our policies and plans reflect our values and provide a clear path for continued improvement. I will communicate with the superintendent, bring innovative ideas to the table, be fiscally responsible, and strengthen the bond between our community and schools for the benefit of all. We must do everything we can to support each child in reaching their full potential.
