Biographical Information

Please share why you have chosen to run for the Grand Chute Town Board, your vision for the future of the Town, and why you are the best candidate to bring about that future.

Grand Chute conducted a road funding survey last fall. How do you interpret the results of that survey, and how will it inform future decisions on road funding?

Grand Chute has traditionally had the lowest property taxes in the Fox Cities metro area. Without assessments to help pay for road improvements, will property taxes increase more significantly in the future? Will assessments continue to be used for water and sanitary sewer extensions in the Town?

A comprehensive Grand Chute housing study has been authorized. How soon will this be completed? Will this information be used to ease the severe lack of affordable housing the the Fox Valley?

Beginning this year, Grand Chute has implemented its own ambulance service. How will this impact taxpayers and improve the quality of life in Grand Chute?

I have choosen to run for town board supervisor because I believe it is time to bring transparency and integrity back to the board. Grand Chute deserves some one with honest convictions and priorities. As a life time member of this community and a father to a school age child I would like to improve the safety of our town for my daughter and her friends. As a father to young men I want to be an example, showing my sons what our role should be in the community, prioritizing ALL people's safety.
What I believe the survey is telling us is that our community wants to improve our town's infastructure. Many emphasizing uncovering ways to pay for these improvments. My goal is to listen to the constituants and get the road repairs, or new roads back on schedule.
In my opinion the way we go about this is to require businesses to at least pay their special assesments for road improvements. I also beleive that working for a caviot that residential contribution would have a cap of $5000.00 or less. Without special assessments being resetablished with the above mentioned caviots increased taxes would be unavoidable. It is my understanding that these assessments are state mandated for water. The board is also looking at how to manage storm and sanitation.
At this time I am not privy to this information because I am not currently on the board.
I assume, as in any community, having our own ambulance service would improve response to emergencies, quality of care and outcomes. My understanding is that a cost analysis was sone and showed a positve result in cost for the community as well.

Grand Chute has grown dramatically. Our available land is approximately 70% developed. The challenges of our growth and size requires leaders with skill sets that can meet the types of financial and operational needs that we now face. My background and experience positions me to identify and address the challenging issues we face as a Town. My perspective will be to provide residents with an efficient and cost-effective government that respects individual and property owner rights
The Town’s recent road funding study identified three “ Pay As You Go” options . None of the options considered the creation of a “Dedicated Road Fund.” The advantage of a Dedicated Road Fund is funds accumulate annually and earn compound interest. This results in the lowest possible cost to residents because the compound interest earnings pay portion of the total road cost. The Pay As You Go funding method makes the resident pay the total cost. A Dedicated Road Fund can reduce the cos
Grand Chute has paid for all of the road work over the past four years. without raising taxes or charging special assessments. This can continue going forward especially if the Town adopts a dedicated road funding model. Water is governed by the public Service Commission and the Town must follow their directive. The sewer fund has more than sufficient funds to cover future costs without needing special assessments.
A major housing issue that will impact the Town in the next 10 to 15 years is the large number of seniors who will downsize into condominiums, town houses, or apartments. Approximately 30% of the Town is seniors and that percentage will grow. The study will need to factor this into its recommendations. The result of this downsizing will make more single family homes available to new families who want to move here. The Town is about 70% built and the question does not define what is affordable.
A good example of our Town working to serve the people well is our new amblulance service. I had need of it recently for my wife. The service was fast and professional and the staff at St. Elizabeth mentioned to me how well our EMT’s performed. I was a strong proponent of an ambulance service when I was previously on the Board and with the number of seniors in our Town growing larger, this service is vitally important.
