Education UW Platteville Criminal Justice graduate
Community Involvement Prior City Council Alderman and Council President. Past American Legion Commander
Leadership and Experience. I was on the City Council for four years. One year as the Council President. Past Commander of the Onalaska American Legion. Army Veteran with rank of Sergeant while serving in Korea with Second Infantry Division during the Vietnam Era. Monroe County Deputy Sheriff's Transport Officer. Presently on the Police and Fire Commission. Volunteer driver for the DAV (Disabled American Veteran). Volunteer for the USO. Member of the Knights of Columbus, a Christian Men's Organization.
Fiscal Responsibility Affordable housing Operational Infrastructure
Onalaska has a history of a more moderate to conservative approach towards fiscal responsibility. Our bond rating has traditionally been very good. However, maintaining this position is the goal. As for affordable housing, that is more challenging. The population is aging. Over the years more and more appartments are being built. There is less inventory for a single family. There is only so much land available to develop. We will need to have a working relationship with developers and understanding market expectations. The infrastructure involves, fire, police and public works. A large portion of the city budget is towards our infrastructure, and rightfully so. It is important to maintain staff and equipment as the community expands.

1. Growth Opportunities – Our city is land locked and need to find creative ways to generate new revenue, expand affordable housing and attract more residents and business to our community.

2. Financial & Budget Management - Managing city expenses and generating new revenues along with a balanced budget are crucial to keeping residents’ taxes reasonable and affordable.

3. Communication – It is important to listen to residents’ concerns and help find solutions as needed. My job will be to solicit input and feedback on what the City does well and what needs improvement and be accessible to District One constituents the best I can.

How will you work to meet those top three priorities? I will work with the Common Council and City staff to find solutions that grow our community in cost effective ways and assure I am accessible to resident the best I can to improve District One and Onalaska.
