I am a 37-year Wheaton resident. After 30 years as a Locomotive Engineer, I became an RN and worked in a nursing home and a free clinic.

I’ve worked for fair and open government for over 40 years and am dedicated to serving those in need or at risk. I’ve volunteered for the Independent Voters of Illinois - Independent Precinct Organization and as a Democratic Precinct Committee person. As a union activist focused on workplace health and safety, I was local President for both the Locomotive Engineers and the Illinois Nurses Association.

I belong to the DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church, the NNU nurses’ union, and the Milton Democratic Party. I’m running for Clerk to address inefficiencies and lack of transparency in Milton Township.
Milton Township has two significant issues: Providing services to our constituents and transparency. We need to be open, transparent and accessible and focused on serving our people in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.

As clerk, I will:

A. Provide transparency by promptly providing easy to understand minutes and agendas on a website that is easy to navigate.

B. Ensure that our constituents know what programs are available to them and how to easily access them. I will work with other officials to explore all available resources for our people. Other townships offer significantly more services and make it easy to find out about them. We could too.

C. Be responsive to community requests for information and help.

I will promote collegiality by working with board members and township officers as an ally to address issues that arise and by providing them with accurate information and talking to all with respect.

If a personal issue arises, I will talk with them one-on-one, in person, to reduce tension and avoid putting either of us under pressure. I will provide transparency by promptly providing easy to understand minutes and agendas on a website that is easy to navigate.

I will also look for ways to promote our activities and services to those who do not use the internet, such as connecting with houses of worship and other agencies as partners in getting out the word.
I’m Dan Bailey, candidate for Milton Township Clerk and longtime political and union activist and volunteer nurse in a free clinic. Government should be open and honest and directed to serving the people in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible while also paying the employees fairly. As clerk, I will ensure that the constituents know exactly what Milton Township is doing promptly and will work with the township team to maximize benefit to our constituents. They deserve this.
