City of West Chicago Alderman Ward Six
The City operates under the Mayor-City Council form of government. It is divided into seven wards, each ward being represented in the City Council by two elected representatives (Aldermen). The Mayor is elected as well. Together, the Mayor and City Council serve as the policy-making body of the City. They perform such functions as passing resolutions and ordinances, approving the expenditure of money, levying taxes, approving subdivisions, zoning, and other land use regulations; and generally deciding on important issues that affect the City of West Chicago.City Council meetings occur the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, unless otherwise posted.

Please tell us about yourself. Why are you running for office? What talents do you bring to the office?
What are the two most significant issues facing your community? If elected, how do you plan to address these issues?
How will you promote collegiality with your board and transparancy with the community?
My family moved to West Chicago in 2012. It all began when I was on the Historical Preservation Committee. What a wonderful experience learning about our rich West Chicago History. I then was appointed in 2018 as Alderman of Ward 6 and was re-elected in 2021. I am running for re-election because I love my community. Participating in our city government has lead me to a deep appreciation for the employees of the City as well as what goes into making a city run. It is an honor to represent my City and neighbors. In this position I feel my talent is that I weigh all the information prior to making a decision. My decisions are based on what is in the best interest of our community.
In my opinion two significant issues facing our community is easier access to mental health and substance abuse treatment. This is something many communities are facing throughout the country. If re-elected I would support programs that promote the well being of my neighbors.
The best way in my opinion to promote collegiality is to listen and communicate in a professional manner. Opinions can differ. Through the process of active listening and asking questions we can we can grow and learn from one another and make the best decisions possible for our community. Our city does promote transparency. City Council meeting are open to the public; information is on the City website.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve as Alderman for Ward 6. It has been a great honor and I hope to continue to serve for the next four years.
