My name is William R. Barrett, and I am running for Commissioner of the Wheaton Park District.

I have lived in Wheaton since 1976, my four children attended Longfellow, Franklin, and Wheaton North, and all participated in Park District programs.

My wife and I have always shopped locally and in 2014 we introduced Kilwins to Downtown Wheaton.

Currently serving in my second term as Commissioner of the Wheaton Park District where my primary focus is managing the budget while improving programs and services.
The Wheaton Park District operates fifty-five parks and two pools. Maintaining those existing facilities while providing consistently high participation rates in all our recreation programs are the two most significant issues facing the district.

The Wheaton Park District has been successful in keeping all our parks and supporting buildings operationally safe with competitive bidding practices on services and support.

Rice Pool and Water Park is thirty-seven years old and the Wheaton Park District will be asking the community for guidance on addressing the ongoing costs that are associated with the operation of that aquatic park.
The Golden Rule is the principle of treating others as one would want to be treated.

That is the basis to promote and preserve respectful communication with the Wheaton Park District board, administration, and staff.

All our sub-committee meetings are open to the public and all our regular meetings are available live on Wheaton Community Television and recorded at the Wheaton City Council chambers.
The Wheaton Park District plays a vital role in shaping the quality of life we all work hard to create for our families and our community here in Wheaton.

That commitment to building a strong and sustainable park and recreation program defines my role as Commissioner on the Wheaton Park District.

As an incumbent running for re-election, I am asking for your support and your vote in the non-partisan election on April 1st.
