As the current Alderman, I have had the privilege of serving the City of Warrenville, Ward Two. I worked together with Mayor Brummel to establish and become the first liaison to the Bicyclist Pedestrian Advisory Committee. After a few years, the city fulfilled requirements to achieve "Bike Friendly City" status.
Another proposal I initiated was the Warrenville Trailhead tha was planned, funded with grants and partnerships, constructed and opened for use in 2023. It provides many amenities to trail users.
Furthering tree-planting initiatives to increase the tree canopy percentage has been another emphasis and, I recently worked with the Mayor to establish and become liaison to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.
We are at a turning point in Warrenville. We must have a vision and plan for what we want Warrenville to be.
Pursuing economic development that will not impact the natural areas that protect our air quality, provide stormwater control by reducing runoff and provide for outdoor recreational opportunities is a priority issue.
The City’s fiscal condition is a challenge every year and we must strive to maintain a strategic goal of maintaining no long term debt and pursue “pay as you go” plans to avoid raising residents property taxes.
As must all Council members, I will conduct the business of the City in a professional, civil and courteous manner concentrating on the execution of each meeting's agenda and acting in accordance with standard rules of order. I will put foremost the best interests of Warrenville citizens, without regard for my personal advantage.
Open communication is key and transparency will take place through continual updating of the City of Warrenville's website, social media, newsletters and through my participation at community events and meetings. Residents are always welcome to attend and provide public comment at City Council meetings and I am available by email or phone to listen to constituent concerns.
My goal is to increase safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. Cars are bigger, quieter and faster today. Bicycle lanes, crosswalks, trails, sidewalks and reduced speed limits on some roads can be added to provide enhanced safety measures for pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicles.
Recently I worked with Mayor Brummel to establish the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee. We want all of Warrenville residents to be seen, feel safe and included.
One of the immediate goals is to support and develop a partnership with the Little Friends organization to recognize Warrenville as an Autism Friendly City.
I will be honored to serve as Alderman to strive to keep Warrenville friendly and the best place to live, work and play.
