Experience and Qualifications
It has been my privilege to represent our community at the New York State and Suffolk County levels of government. I served as a Suffolk County Legislator of the 16th Legislative District for 12 years. Once elected to the New York State Assembly, I hit the ground running to pass an impressive 6 bills within my first 6 weeks of office, including laws to protect our precious groundwater, services for veterans, and measures to protect children's health. I have also secured funding for our local schools and for our law enforcement for the fight against the deadly opioid epidemic and MS-13.
Community Involvement
I am a proud resident of the Half Hollow Hills community, where I reside with my family. I have served as an adjunct professor of law at Touro School of Law, a past trustee of the Long Island Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and a past vice president of the Suffolk Y JCC.

As your strong voice in Albany, I work to protect and enhance our Long Island quality of life, protecting our tax dollars, clean water, and safety and security. I am proud to have made the New York State property tax cap permanent and to have secured a property tax rebate credit for STAR and Enhanced STAR. I delivered record funding to expand Long Island’s clean water infrastructure and to preserve our sole-source aquifer. I will always prioritize our community’s safety and well-being, passing historic laws to keep guns out of the wrong hands, securing funding for local law enforcement to prosecute violent gangs and criminals, and voting to codify Roe v. Wade to ensure women’s right to life-saving healthcare.
In the Assembly, I will continue to support initiatives that harness sustainable energy resources and protect our natural resources from the devastating impacts of climate change. In 2023, I was proud to co-sponsor the New York Heat Act and the Sustainable Energy Transition Act to move New York State forward to a cleaner future. I was honored to serve as chair of the Renewable Energy Subcommittee, and to co-sponsor and pass historic legislation prohibiting offshore drilling in Long Island’s coastal waters. I will continue to work to diversify our energy sources and protect our vital natural resources across New York State for future generations.
Access to the ballot box and having trust in a secure election are the most important steps to ensuring that all New Yorkers have a voice in the future of our state and country. As our Assemblyman, I have co-sponsored the historic John Lewis Voting Rights Act, protecting voters from intimidation and vote dilution and suppression. I have ensured increased opportunities to vote with same day registration, early voting, expanded voting by mail, promoted student voter registration, and I am the sponsor of legislation to make religious observance cause for absentee voting. I will continue to ensure that our elections are accessible for voters, and that our election process is secure, free, and fair.
I am a proud supporter of legislation that will secure a woman’s right to abortion and prohibit discrimination based on sexual and gender identity, ethnicity, national origin, age or disability. I am the sponsor of legislation to develop an educational program combating anti-Semitism, Islamophobia bias, and discrimination against religion, race, sexual orientation or gender identity. In our local school districts, I have championed funding to build adaptive playgrounds so that all of our children have the opportunity to engage with their peers and achieve their highest potential. I will continue to be our strong, local voice in Albany, advancing inclusive and just initiatives for our entire community.
