The 2014 ballot has 18 items – Line items 2 through 15 [road projects] are the top priority and currently there is a 16.5 million dollar shortfall for some or all of the projects. (Braxton Copley testified at the city council meeting)

We need to redirect all of the $5 million a year earmarked for economic development and paid to go Topeka.
Governments should reduce taxes on small businesses to stimulate growth and hiring. Implementing training and skill development programs for workers can enhance employability. Expanding access to affordable childcare and healthcare would enable more people to enter the workforce, particularly women. Minimum wage adjustments should be balanced with incentives for businesses to retain staff. Offering tax credits or subsidies to companies that hire long-term unemployed individuals can promote inclusivity. Finally, reforming unemployment benefits to encourage job-seeking behavior, alongside robust job matching services, would help more individuals transition into employment.
