Personal Biography I’m a successful businesswoman who has made Johnson County my home. When I was just 14, I worked in cornfields to help take care of my parents. Hard work and helping our community were core beliefs my parents instilled in our family. Those beliefs have stayed with me throughout my life and my work.
Education I am a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University and Johnson County Community College (JCCC).
Community/Public Service Currently, I am a member of the Olathe, DeSoto, and Gardner Chambers of Commerce, National Association of Planning Council, American Health Care Association, and Women Who Mean Business. I'm a proud sustaining member of our Olathe Public Schools Foundation Women's Giving Circle; I am a member of Gardner Grange and Kansas Farm Bureau.
With ongoing rapid growth in the 6th District, I have worked to prepare transit infrastructure with the Kansas Department of Transportation and impacted communities to find best practice solutions to increase lanes on K-10. For large infrastructure projects, must seek funding partnerships with the state and federal governments.
Johnson County government must be an active and engaged partner with the community to ensure a growing workforce so our business community may be successful.

By maintaining quality of life assets, providing a safe environment, and expanding our workforce housing the county can be a truly contributing partner. We also have to do our part to keep the county affordable. We are already active with K-12, JCCC, and the Wyandotte/Johnson County Workforce Development agency.

It would be my hope that we also consider joining together for a very targeted county marketing campaign to attract families to our community.
The budget is the tool by which the county provides charter-required services as well as quality of life components to residents and businesses.

I have supported mill levy rate reductions for four years, consolidation of services for efficiency, and numerous partnerships with other governments, nonprofits and business to help provide effective and efficient services.

We must manage our growth and our spending to ensure that we maintain that hometown feel we love while keeping up with our ever-changing economy and constantly evolving technology.

Because Johnson County is the economic engine that powers our state, we have a responsibility to innovate.

Johnson County's predominant infrastructure need is the enhancement and modernization of our county's road systems to account for Johnson County's population growth. A key priority for the 6th District is providing continued county support for the redesign of the I-35 exit onto Santa Fe. In addition, our county government should work with city governments to address traffic congestion at rail crossings and look at other opportunities to make our transportation system more effective for all Johnson County residents. Development that expands access to grocery stores and affordable single-family homes are also important capital projects I hope to advocate for on the county commission.

These enhancements should be paid for by using resources made available by state, federal, and private sector partners and existing corporate resources. Johnson County residents are facing a property tax crisis, and as a result, I will not vote for a property tax increase.
The Johnson County government needs to invest in building a robust and sustainable workforce that will ensure our county's residents are able to enjoy a wide variety of goods and services. I will support increasing salaries for county employees to ensure we are able to attract and retain quality staff members. I will also strongly support enhanced salaries for our county's public safety professionals in law enforcement and at the District Attorney's Office. The county should also partner with Johnson County Community College and local chambers of commerce to identify any workforce needs in Johnson County and provide strategic investments to address those needs.
The Johnson County government does an effective job of creating an inclusive environment for its aging citizens through the CHAMPSS senior meals program and other resources organized and provided by the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging. The county government also does an effective job of placing individuals with intellectual disabilities into careers in public services. These types of programs allow families of all ages and abilities to live and enjoy the great amenities that are available in Johnson County. The Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department is also well regarded and has effective programming to encourage our youth and seniors to live active and healthy lives both indoors and outdoors.
