Community/Public Service Kansas State Board of Education, currently serving: Wichita Board of Education, 10 years
Most important I believe in and support public education. I have served on both state and local boards and spent significant time staying up to date on those issues that have an impact on education. I am a strong and passionate advocate for all students based on the premise that a quality education should be provided for all. I have served in leadership positions and on several committees within the realms of education and I know the importance of hard work and dedication that is required to serve in this role.
All issues that impact education are important, but the three for me would be the shortage of teachers, the connection between families and schools and adequately funding education. I would continue working within the authority granted to improve and promote education and its development.
Teachers that understand and create a positive learning environment for all students.
Working with the legislature, since this is the body that controls the state budget and it’s appropriations, to ensure the value and importance of proper funding for education is understood.
