(1) Continue to move forward with new facility expansion to meet the needs of Pasco County’s growth and ensure their safety against the world’s most deadly animal. (2) Continue to protect the citizens of Pasco with the most cost effective, best practices for the fight against mosquito borne illnesses.
We work to ensure that we are making use of every opportunity to use sustainable energy resources when available. Hybrid vehicles are currently being used for certain applications.
We treat every citizen with the equal respect and make every attempt to treat against mosquitos through best practices. A threat against one citizen is a threat against all citizens. Sentinel chickens are used in concert with a variety of mosquito traps stationed countywide to detect viruses and diseases. Mosquito larvae eating fish are deployed as a natural avenue to reduce mosquitoes as well as the use of larvicides and insecticides. Most calls for service are answered within 24 hours.
Mosquitoes kill more humans than any other animal on the planet. Period. With the exponential growth we have in Pasco County, we need to be forward thinking and proactive in our approach to combatting viruses and disease. We have outgrown our current 10 acre facility and need a larger campus to address Pasco’s growth. It was very difficult three years ago to find a plot of land for our new campus; it would be virtually impossible in 20-30 years to locate a comparable location to accommodate our requirements. All of the Commissioners support the new campus and we believe we will be able to build it without raising the millege rate. I would justify the cost as the price I would put on a human life. We are not building the Taj Mahal, just a facility that will accommodate our needs and the needs of the citizens of Pasco County.

1: Create a Strategic Plan and budget towards those quantifiable goals.
2: Cancel the New Campus buildout
3: Immediately go to a 5 member board that reflects the Pasco County Commission districts so we have proper representation of this taxing authority.
Sustainable energy affects all levels of public service. PCMCD is no different. Exploring wind and solar power for internal campus infrastructure while hardening the current electrical grid.
No, There are currently many areas of untapped "opportunity" for PCMCD to partner with our other local governing agencies to share overlapping mission statements of public health. There are many HOA's that could benefit from mutual aid agreements that are not yet in existence. Each geographic area of the County has distinct and differing needs of service. We should reorganize (operationally) internally to address each district area specific service needs.
It currently is NOT justified. However, if we can change the culture of PCMCD to become COLLABORATIVE then we might be able to justify a joint facility that hosts multiple partners at the proposed site.
