It has been my life’s work to serve. I was 17 years old when I raised my right hand and pre-enlisted to serve in the US Army and attend basic training. St. Johns County is my home and that means a great deal to me. I have a deep desire to protect my fellow citizens and serve them. I thoroughly enjoyed serving as Chief of Police for St. Augustine Beach from 2013-2020, but was confident I had more to give which motivated my decision to run for Sheriff 4 years ago. That same motivation exists today for my reelection. I am proud of what we have done in four years with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and I believe we can continue to keep building on our successes to make the county even safer.
Having served a term as Sheriff, I possess the institutional knowledge necessary to continue our progress. With twenty-five years of service in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard, I have developed character, integrity, and perseverance. My combat experience has honed my leadership skills and enhanced my ability to make critical decisions under pressure—a skill that is invaluable in law enforcement.
I am the only candidate with executive experience. My thirty years in law enforcement, combined with my military background, have equipped me to lead effectively. Under my leadership, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has achieved remarkable success in keeping crime low, reducing recidivism, and forming strong community partnerships.
As a career law enforcement officer and combat soldier, my commitment to public safety is unwavering. My primary focus is on keeping crime low and ensuring St. Johns County remains safe. We will achieve this by leveraging state-of-the-art technology to solve crimes and ensure criminals are brought to justice. To keep up with growth, we must also continue to recruit and retain the best talent in law enforcement. In addition, we need to continue to provide first-class customer service by maintaining transparency in our actions and holding our personnel accountable. Finally, long-standing generational issues contribute to crime, and we must address these through community partnerships with individuals and entities from all walks of life.
As a former Commissioner of the Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission, I am committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability for our agency personnel. It is essential for the public to have trust and confidence in the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
We have implemented programs such as the use of body cameras on our deputies. Additionally, we are constantly speaking to community groups countywide to share the latest information about the Sheriff’s Office.
