Women's reproductive rights and healthcare are two issues that, while intertwined, have defined my career. Ensuring reproductive freedom and implementing BadgerCare For All, as well as staple progressive policies like protecting public education, demanding climate justice, and enacting cannabis legalization, will be the foundation of my campaign and what I hope to accomplish if elected. I am unapologetically progressive and currently serve as the Executive Director of Our Wisconsin Revolution, having served as OWR's Policy Research Director and Lead Training Organizer for the past few years. In these roles, I have gained invaluable non-profit leadership experience and have spent years serving as an organizer for progressive causes, particularly around youth engagement.
I support increasing home-ownership opportunities for individuals and families, particularly young Wisconsinites who are struggling to afford a place they can call home. Renting for life is not conducive to raising a family and we must guarantee access to quality, affordable homes if we want Wisconsinites to flourish. Lack of supply and corporate purchasing have left few homes available, forcing prices to skyrocket. Supply can be improved by incentivizing new building projects, particularly population-dense residencies, and hoarding by institutional investors with unlimited resources can be prevented by levying large taxes on entities owning more than (x) single-family homes.
Wisconsin should utilize an independent, non-partisan, third-party redistricting process to guarantee fair and equitable representation. We must have a permanent solution in place before the next census to confirm that gerrymandered maps cannot be utilized in the future.
Clean water and clean air are fundamental building blocks of a healthy society. Polluters must be punished, both financially and legally, to protect Wisconsin from those who disregard environmental standards. Adequately fund the DNR and legislate independence of their scientists from partisan control. Take initiative on decarbonization efforts with the goal of net-zero emissions by 2040. Increase funding towards PFAS prevention and combat already impacted areas. Champion clean, renewable energy TODAY with the goal of energy independence from fossil fuels by 2040. Do not allow corporate conglomerates to poison our pristine natural resources via the transfer of oil, shut down aging and failing pipelines before the next (inevitable) environmental catastrophe. Collaborating with established groups and passionate Wisconsinites to deploy their expertise on issues they have been working towards for decades.
Public dollars should stay in public schools, not private institutions. Public schools are the cornerstones of communities. We must ensure quality education for ALL Wisconsin students, and guarantee an environment that allows each unique individual to excel and to reach their full potential. Funding cannot simply be "adequate", it must be paramount. A budget represents priorities, resources are distributed to that which is deemed most important. Education, as the building block of society, must be at the top.
