As a career educator, I have long been an advocate for school choice and expanded educational opportunities for our kids. Secondly, as the wife of a police captain, I have always and will always support the black and blue, seeking ways to promote stronger public safety for our neighborhoods and communities. Finally, I am committed to building a stronger economy in Southern Nevada by working with my colleagues in the legislature to decrease burdensome regulation and fees to grow a business friendly environment.
As a mother of four, I have always been and will continue to be a pro-life advocate. Current Nevada law, which allows abortions without parental consent for minors and up to as long as 24 weeks gestation is absolutely terrible. As an advocate for life, it's my hope to seek ways I can be of further service to both unborn babies and the women who are facing unexpected motherhood.
Specifically when it comes to minors, I believe that gender-affirming care borders upon child abuse. Young children who do not have the full ability to understand the life-altering, and at times life-threatening decisions that they are making, should not be subject to medical procedures or pharmaceutical regimens without parental consent.
I do support the proposed voter ID amendment. In this state, an individual must have a photo ID to rent bowling shoes, but not to vote. Voter ID amendments are often challenged on the claim that it would disenfranchise voters, but under current standards, only those casting their ballots legally are being disenfranchised. Voter ID would do more to secure our elections system and return trust to the voter population.
I believe rank-choice voting in particular only creates greater confusions for the voting public, and as we've seen in other states like California and Alaska, it actually produces a lower voter turnout than states without ranked-choice voting. I believe the passage of this ballot initiative of open primaries and ranked-choice voting would be a detriment to our election system and in the public trust of our election system.
