Current Job Louisville Metro Councilwoman (2nd District)
I have decades of experience working with a diverse group of people in getting things done for the benefit of my community and Louisville as a whole. I believe that my vast experience in public office and the resulting deep level of helpful connections, I am uniquely positioned to advocate for District 2 and its residents. We are a culturally diverse district, and I am excited to continue representing us all and striving for a better tomorrrow.
Youth violence, specfically gun violence, is my number one concern right now. I am currently involved in OSHN's CORE meeting group which is focused on attempting to bring down violent crime in the Newburg neighborhood. The senseless killing of our city's youngest citizens is heartbreaking, and it must stop.
I support legislation that aims to provide and preserve equal treatment for all people and all walks of life. Whenever I can, I support all initiatives that aim to give everyone the same fair opportunity to succeed and thrive in our great city.
Metro Council Members should be open and available to communicate with their constituency as often as possible--I hold monthly community meetings where anyone from my district can come and speak directly to me about any concern they may have. Furthermore, if my office receives a call, I always, always call back myself. I believe that this personal touch keeps me accountable to my constituents every day.
I believe that guns should only be obtained and owned legally, that gun safety should be a part of all gun training, and preferably that everyone who wants to own a gun go through this training.
I support policies that promote fairness and equalty of opportunity for all of our county's children. Where you live in the city should have no baring on whether or not you get a good education. The children of District 2 are just as deserving of a high-quality education as any other district in the city, and I will fight for these children to have access to all of the educational opportunities that I can!
