My extensive leadership experience and involvement in various community initiatives demonstrates my dedication to public service and advocacy for important social issues. My roles in organizations like JCPS, JCTA, Emerge KY graduate, the Advisory Council for the Racial Equity (ACRE) Policy, the Juvenile Justice Oversight Council for the state of Kentucky, and one of the Co-Chairs of Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression showcase my commitment to equity, justice, and civic engagement. I am well-prepared to serve as the next Metro Council member for District 24, advocating for the needs and interests of the constituents and working towards positive change in the community.
Criminal activity and gun violence are identified as the highest priority issue facing the community of Jefferson County, addressing it effectively would require a multi-faceted approach that combines law enforcement efforts with community-based interventions and policy measures. We need to implement evidenced based gun violence prevention with fidelity which would include universal background checks enforcing the laws against illegal firearm possession and supporting community based violence intervention programs. We need to invest in youth programs with positive alternatives to crime and violence through after-school programs and recreational activities as well as job training.
Promoting community integration and addressing economic, racial, and age segregation within Jefferson County requires a multi-faceted approach that involves various stakeholders and utilizes a combination of policy initiatives, community engagement, and targeted interventions.
Council Members should adhere to open meeting laws and ensure that meetings are accessible to the public. This includes providing advance notice of meetings, allowing public participation, and making meeting minutes and records available to the public. ouncil Members should communicate regularly with their constituents to keep them informed about their work and decision-making processes. This could involve holding regular town hall meetings, sending out newsletters or email updates, and maintaining active presence on social media platforms. Council Members should be transparent about the factors influencing their decisions and the rationale behind their votes. Council Members should be accessible to their constituents.

My preferred public policy relating to guns (ownership, safety, training, etc.) are background checks before being allowed to purchase firearm. You should be required to obtain a license and register your firearm. There should be laws mandating the safe storage of firearms to help prevent accidents, thefts, etc. There should be a waiting period before being allowed to purchase and delivery of a firearm to allow authorities the time for a background check to be retrieved.
Supporting and funding public education is a widely endorsed approach to ensuring equitable access to quality education for all children. Adequate funding enables schools to provide resources, such as qualified teachers, updated curriculum materials, technology, and facilities, that are essential for students to thrive academically and socially. Supporting public education involves advocating for policies that promote excellence and equity, such as reducing class sizes, providing professional development for teachers, investing in early childhood education, supporting students with special needs, and fostering a positive school climate and culture. Investing in public education will build a strong foundation for economic prosperity.
