My platform is grandparents rights for the state of Idaho.
Various volunteer services in community in American Legion also in various school system for Bingham County.
Obviously the water issue is a very high . I’m familiar with I’m aware from many of the farmers in the area to know what they are up against.
The senior citizens are struggling with living check which is month to month is very difficult these days.
Many grandparents are raising grandchildren also and they are struggling with no rights when an emergency arises or any kind of problem that needs any professional assistance.
I feel that is between a woman her family’s situation. No one else should make that for her.
Sometimes Idaho does need change and different out look and views.
I would like to continue working on making adoption an easier and less costly option for Idaho women. I passed four pieces of legislation during the 2024 session that started the adoption process down that road. With the strong abortion laws that have been put on place in the state I feel that making this viable option first and foremost.
I served on the national and state PTA boards when my children were young, then I served for 10 years as a board trustee for Snake River School District. I then ran for the Idaho House of Representatives and won, I continued in that position for 6 years, all the time on the education committee. I also have been an officer in the Pocatello Blackfoot chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League.
I have seen an erosion of compassion when it comes to addressing the needs of the most vulnerable citizens of Idaho. Funding the needs of these citizens will be a challenge in the near future. Many are calling on churches and charities to take on this responsibility, but I see the state has a responsibility also. Working with others to craft budgets that address these needs will be vital.
I am very much against elective abortions. In my previous response I explained that adoption should be a first option. Life threatening pregnancy complication decisions should be left to the family in consultation with professionals.
I have lived in Idaho my whole life, I was raised on a potato farm and attended and graduated from public schools. My family has been raised in the same way, except my adopted daughter who has decided to live in Japan. I believe that farming in Idaho is a great way to raise a family and make a living. I appreciate the support I have received from the voters in my district and hope they will continue to support me.
