I hope to move the Idaho Senate more toward the center and provide ideas and policies that are not extreme. I support public education to include school buildings, staff , and administrative oversight of alternative education. I support state, local, and federal coordination in addressing infrastructure to include broadband, electricity, and roads and bridges. I support mental and behavioral health services resulting in stronger and more resilient families and communities. Our economy is expanding and our population is growing and changing. I support legislative response to growth that includes all Idaho citizens. I support using federal funding wisely to care for vulnerable Idaho citizens. I support quality health care for all.
I graduated from Boise State University and completed an advanced degree at the College of Idaho in School Administration. I have over 4 decades of experience working in adult education as a teacher, principal, and state administrator working with agencies, colleges and universities, and federal programs. I have participated and provided leadership in vocational and adult education associations to include leadership in state, regional, and national training and policy activities. I am an active member of the Idaho County Democratic Party.
To put my answer as simply as I can, state government takes money from it's population by taxing individuals, businesses and corporations to meet shared needs, solve shared problems, and promote shared activities. It also manages monies from federal and local sources. One challenge is to get he income right to meet the services and activities provided by the state. As important, the state must make sure that this money is spent wisely balancing competing needs of Idaho citizens. A varied, informed legislature provides the best vehicle to make effective and strong policies and decisions. So, the challenge is to take in the right amount of funds and spend these as well as possible to meet the needs of the state.
Yes. I support decisions about personal health to be made between an individual and his/her doctor. The decisions about pregnancy complications are included in this statement.
I am entering this race because I believe District 7 citizens need to have a choice about who will represent them in the Senate. Please read more than the party designation to see if you agree with the issues and concerns of the candidates. I think Idaho legislators are out of sync with the population on most issues. I believe voters know the issues. I am for the right amount of taxes not for lower or higher taxes. I am for good public education with trust in local school administrators and boards. I understand the need for public safety and mental/behavioral health policies. I am for a strong and supported economy that works for all. I am for taking care of our lands, cities, and rural communities fairly so Idaho citizens prosper.
