I have been a champion for public education since my appointment in 2021. I have worked for additional funding for Career and Technical Education, brought legislation to add flexibility for our high school students interested in taking CTE courses, and passed legislation that now allows Idaho Student Teachers to receive pay for the hard work they do in the classroom. I will continue to be a champion for Education, from K-12 through higher ed.
I have had careers in education, business, and agriculture. I served as program coordinator and professor in the Paralegal program at LC State for 15+ yrs. The past 45+ years, I have worked alongside my husband to manage his law practice, our family corporation (a cattle ranch, timber, and commercial real estate development), I served as a school board member, past president of the Idaho Assn. for Legal Prof, past pres. of the LC Foundation Bd., bd member of the ID Comm. Fndn, the ID Bus. for Ed. Org., serve on the Advisory Board of the U of I Exten. Bd. and have served in the Idaho House of Rep. since May 2021. I believe in being a public servant and giving back to my community and my state.
Property tax relief, better infrastructure, including broadband for our rural areas, and affordable housing are all critical areas for our citizens. I am particularly concerned about our rural areas. We saw the needs during COVID where access to Internet was greatly lacking in our State. In addition, I am concerned about our senior citizens having affordable housing and the ability to pay their rising property taxes. These are all areas we need to continue to work on.
Yes! This past session I, along with many colleagues, attempted to bring legislation to add the exception, health of the mother, to our laws. We were stopped from bringing the legislation. We need an Idaho solution to keep our OB/GYN physicians from leaving our state. Idaho's families are asking for this exception. Polling shows that over 80% of Idahoans agree that we need to add the health of the mother to Idaho's exceptions.
With my strong background in Education, Business, and Agriculture, along with my leadership experiences and ability to work with people, and finally, the experience I have in serving the people of Idaho since May 2021, I am uniquely qualified to work for you, the people of District 6. As a representative I work hard to represent ALL the people in our District. I listen, do my research, and do my best to communicate with you the voter. We have over 52,000 people in District 6, Republicans, Democrats, Unaffiliated, and others. I will continue to listen and be your voice in Boise and it would be an honor to have your support.
