What specific experiences and skills qualify you to be a good commissioner?

What are your top two priorities as Commissioner if you are (re)elected in 2024?

What ideas do you have to respond to housing availability and affordability challenges across Vanderburgh County?

How will you work to increase job opportunities for your constituents?

25 years of banking experience including lending, private banking, wealth management and relationship management - last role as SVP Cash Managment Director overseeing a team of 30 associates delivering commercial deposit products 11 years of nonprofit management experience; serving as Regional CEO of American Red Cross and President and CEO of United Way of Southwestern Indiana In my term at United Way, we transitioned our funding methodology to a focus on poverty reduction, right sized our organization, and completed a succession plan for the transition of leadership.

Throughout my career, I have developed key relationships with corporate and nonprofit leaders and state and local government officials. I have proven leadership, negotiation and team building skills and understand the power of collaboration, listening and civility. I have the ability to make tough decisions that are in the best interest of our constituents and not my own.
My top two priorities as commissioner are: 1. Quality of Place - Safe communities and schools are key. I will always stand with law enforcement to ensure they have the tools to keep our families safe. We all deserve improved and maintained infrastructure, and that includes all county roads and our parks and trail must represent a place anyone would want to call home.

2. Strong Economy- By keeping taxes low, cutting red tape and incentivizing responsible growth, we will work to create an environment where families and businesses can move, expand and thrive

We should be selling our County to anyone who will listen.
I have been engaged with HOUSE (Housing Organizations United Serving Evansville) since 2016. This is a collaborative group who provides education primarily on low-income housing issues and needs and tracks progress for the city. This group uses the Bowen Study that is an annual housing needs assessment on the city. As County Commissioner, I would first ask for this report to be expanded to include the entire county and expand our focus for all housing (workforce, urban core, residential property, etc) in order to develop a county wide housing plan to address the issues and to have quality, affordable workforce housing to attract talent to our region.
I would continue my work with Talent EVV, our region's strategic transformation plan. A Thriving Workforce is one of the four key focus areas with a goal of having a highly trained workforce that is globally competitive and relevant. The Thriving Workforce Strategy centers on the vital link between education, employment and wage advancement, where advanced manufacturing and health and life sciences stand out as our largest and fastest-growing sectors. Working this plan alongside Talent EVV ensures our accountability to you.
I am a certified Project Manager in Innovation/R&D for Reckitt, the largest infant nutrition company in the US. I lead multi-million dollar projects and 30+ person teams to take new item projects from ideation to production. I manage risks, budgets, and people every day. I am very involved in our community and understand the needs of those around me. Every year I host the Giving Tree of Warmth in Haynie's Corner. I work with businesses, schools, churches, and nonprofits to collect over 1,000 items of warmth and pass them out to those in need. I also sit on many boards for non-profits in our community, from women's organizations and USI Alumni Council to organizations that support children. I also will bring fresh perspectives to the Board of Commissioners. We need to attract younger people to move here, stay here, and raise their families here. I will be able to help facilitate plans to make that happen.
Public Safety will always be #1. I will work with Sheriff Noah Robinson and his team to make sure we are always doing what is right for the Department and for our community. We must collaborate to keep Vanderburgh County safe. I also want to get back to the basics. We need transparency from our County Government. We deserve to have agendas posted before meetings. We deserve to have meetings that aren't in the middle of a work day. We need collaboration between City and County again so that we are all working towards similar goals. I promise that I will be an advocate for change and bring back transparency to this office.
We are in a housing crisis, like many cities in the state and country. We must step up and figure out how to combat this crisis. We need to meet with current county and city officials as to policies for developers and what could be fixed or changed to make the process easier. We need to meet with developers and trade unions to understand the issues they face and how we can adjust regulations. This process will take collaboration and we must be willing to work together to make a better housing situation in Vanderburgh County.
We must have a safe community and sound infrastructure to attract companies to come to Vanderburgh County and stay and grow. We have to plan ahead to make sure land is ready for development to attract larger companies-especially manufacturing. We also need to collaborate with E-Rep to work with companies that are interested in Vanderburgh County and to also share with growing companies the opportunities that are here. We need to learn from companies in ways we lack to make sure we are constantly improving and being proactive.
